BasedArea Valentine's Day Special

Now this isn't meant to be a TMZ post or anything like that and instead just a post celebrating the holiday and featuring some duos in today's scene. Obviously there are numerous couples that could have been on this post but these are just the few that came to mind.

Jhené Aiko & Big Sean

Now this perhaps is one of today's most popular couples with Big Sean being a consistent young artist in the music scene over the past number of years and Jhené Aiko making her impact in R&B as well as hip-hop. The two started off as friends with Jhené lending Sean vocals for his song Beware in the summer of 2013. Jhené explains their first un-official date as she was then with Dot Da Genius. “He wanted to take me out on a date. I had a boyfriend, but I still went...just as a friend," she recalls. "I had never been courtside to a game and he’s cool. I told my boyfriend ‘I’m gonna go to this game.'” Later that year, Aiko was asked to play F**k, Marry, or Kill and had to choose

between Big Sean, Drake, and J. Cole. She said that she would marry Drake, kill J. Cole and F**k Big Sean. In 2016, the two collaborated on TWENTY88 and just a few months after the drop of this album, Aiko ended her marriage with Dot Da Genius which wasn't finalized until late 2017. The two are now happily dating with Aiko even getting a tattoo of Big Sean on her arm and calling him the love of her life.

Lauren London & Nipsey Hussle

This one was a tough one to write about as they've kept their relationship lowkey for the most part over the years. Lauren London is best known for her role as New-New in the 2006 film A.T.L. She has also been in numerous music videos for artists such as Ludacris, Pharrell, and Snoop Dogg. Previous to dating Nipsey, London was with Lil Wayne for a few years as the two had a child

together in 2009. Nipsey began dating London in 2013. In 2014 he released a song titled Between Us where he said "Fly out to Atlanta, you played that role that you poppin" most likely referring to London's role in A.T.L. The two had a son together in 2016 but by late 2017 Nipsey had announced that the two were no longer dating after a four year relationship. The two are still seen shouting one another out and had even been spotted at the Lakers game on Christmas night just a month after Nipsey had tweeted about the break up. London has even continued to support Nipsey via Instagram citing her favorite track on Nipsey's highly anticipated Victory Lap album dropping on February 16th.

Ayesha & Stephen Curry

Now this one is probably the most, if not one of the most popular duos on this post. It features a two time NBA MVP and NBA Champion along with an extremely well established chef who has her own show, a signature cookware line, and influences around the culinary world. The two met as teenagers while both were with their youth church group in Charlotte, NC. Curry's father Del had been a guard for the Charlotte Hornets as the family was residing there as their father had a

busy NBA career. The two briefly connected again when both were in Toronto as Del had also spent time with the Toronto Raptors. Ayesha stated "I got him some fuzzy peaches, but I was so shy I didn’t say anything. I just handed them to him and walked off" while they were in Toronto. The two didn't go on their first date until they met up in Los Angeles where Ayesha was acting and modeling while Steph was in town for the ESPYS while he was lighting up the NCAA at Davidson. Ayesha turned down his request for a date at first but then agreed after he reached out on Facebook. The two started dating when they both were back in Charlotte as Steph was still at Davidson. The two ended up getting married in 2011 and are now with two kids and one on the way.

Jada & Will Smith

These two have been together for most of our lives as they have just recently celebrated their 20th anniversary just this past New Years Eve. They met on the set of Fresh Prince of Bel Air which is a classic that everyone is obviously familiar with. Jada was auditioning for the role of Lisa Wilkes in 1994 whom was Will's girlfriend on the show. Jada had been doing smaller roles on shows such as 21 Jump Street and True Colors. The role ended up going to Nia Long as Jada was deemed to be too short for the role as she stands at 5'0" while Will is 6'2." The two remained friends even after the audition and started dating the very next year. They got married in 1997 while Will was 29 and Jada was 26. They have two children together, Jaden and Willow. The two have been incredibly successful in their careers since with Will's net worth sitting at $250 million in 2018 after numerous roles in highly acclaimed movies over the years.
