Georgia at Texas
Our game of the week matchup brings us to the SEC this week with a matchup between the highest scoring offense in the country up against the team with the biggest wins of last week. Georgia comes into this game averaging 96 ppg and 15-3 to begin the season. They consist of players coming off a first round exit in March Madness to an elite Gonzaga team. They’re also coming off of a huge double-digit win against Arkansas, the 10th ranked offense. In that game, they were able to have four players finish with double-digit scoring figures including Jeramiah Wilkinson who led Georgia with 20. Georgia is currently the 30th KenPom ranked offense, a big improvement from last season where they were 57th. Combining this with their March Madness experience makes them a team to no doubt watch this season.

On the other hand, Texas might be the hottest team in the country just considering their back to back wins against Alabama and Vanderbilt, two top 5 offenses. This propelled Texas to the 17th ranked offense, a big improvement from their early season start. The big flaw for this team is defense where they rank 100th defensively, a big reason why they have 7 losses this season. They have four players averaging double figures in scoring including three high level guards. Last season, Texas did make it to the First Four but lost to Xavier. They look to make a deeper run this season and have shown how great they can play as seen with their two wins against the best of the best offenses in the game. This game will very likely be another high scoring one between two likely March Madness returners.
